Amazon Lightsail proposes resource monitoring, alarming and notifications
Amazon Lightsail now offers resource monitoring, alarming and notifications. You can now assign starting point for each of the monitored metrics for Amazon Lightsail instances, load balancers and databases, and be notified if the thresholds are exceeded via email and SMS notifications. This new launch will let you understand the health of your Lightsail infrastructure, and be notified if there are any difficulties. At most 2 alarms per metric can be stated on instances, load balancers and databases. For example, one alarm could be used as an alert and the other alarm could pop when it has exceeded a critical threshold. To create the alarm, you only need to choose the metric you require to alarm on, a threshold value for the metric to exceed and how long the metric requires to overshoot the threshold value to trigger the alarm. When an alarm is violated, a warning flag is appeared in the Lightsail console. Besides, you can select to get notifications through email and/or SMS text message using Amazon Simple Notification Service (SNS). Email address and SMS contact numbers can be supplied on a region by region basis, and not all regions support SMS text messaging (read documentation for details). As per Amazon’s latest addition of Amazon Data Lifecycle Manager i.e. Amazon DLM, the Asia Pacific (Hong Kong) and the Middle East (Bahrain) regions can now use the Amazon DLM for EBS snapshots. It follows a simple and fully-automated approach for data backup and offers added features that allow users to create and manage their EBS backups without using custom scripts. As we mentioned earlier that it follows a simple approach for data back up, it offers an even simpler way of usage. Users can start creating lifecycle policies using the Amazon Data Lifecycle Manager (Amazon DLM) just by tagging their EBS volumes. It facilitates users with policy creation in the AWS Management Console by using either the AWS Command Line Interface (CLI) or the Data Lifecycle Manager APIs. This expansion of Amazon Data Lifecycle Manager covers 18 AWS regions and has features like automating the creation, retention, and deletion of snapshots. It helps in protecting valuable data as it maintains a regular backup schedule, retaining backups as needed by auditors or internal compliance, and in cutting down storage costs by deleting outdated backups.

AWS Transit Gateway for AWS Middle East (Bahrain) Region supported by AWS Direct Connect
Amazon Web Services recently introduced AWS Direct Connect support for its AWS Transit Gateway in the AWS Middle East region, Bahrain to be precise. This new service will help the users connect multiple AWS regions to their on-premises networks using AWS Direct Connect Connections. By connecting thousands of Amazon Virtual Private Clouds i.e. Amazon VPCs, it will allow the users to access almost every AWS Region with China being an exception. AWS Direct Connect is bringing a new type of virtual interface to support connectivity to AWS Transit Gateway, called the transit virtual interface to support connectivity. It is recommended to attach at least two transit virtual interfaces from different AWS Direct Connect locations to the Direct Connect gateway for increasing the resilience of your connectivity.
