Asia Pacific (Hong Kong) and the Middle East (Bahrain) Region can now access Amazon Data Lifecycle Manager

As per Amazon’s latest addition of Amazon Data Lifecycle Manager i.e. Amazon DLM, the Asia Pacific (Hong Kong) and the Middle East (Bahrain) regions can now use the Amazon DLM for EBS snapshots. It follows a simple and fully-automated approach for data backup and offers added features that allow users to create and manage their EBS backups without using custom scripts. As we mentioned earlier that it follows a simple approach for data back up, it offers an even simpler way of usage. Users can start creating lifecycle policies using the Amazon Data Lifecycle Manager (Amazon DLM) just by tagging their EBS volumes. It facilitates users with policy creation in the AWS Management Console by using either the AWS Command Line Interface (CLI) or the Data Lifecycle Manager APIs. This expansion of Amazon Data Lifecycle Manager covers 18 AWS regions and has features like automating the creation, retention, and deletion of snapshots. It helps in protecting valuable data as it maintains a regular backup schedule, retaining backups as needed by auditors or internal compliance, and in cutting down storage costs by deleting outdated backups.

AWS launched new feature EC2 Image Builder

AWS launched new feature called EC2 Image Builder. EC2 Image Builder clarifies the creation, maintenance, validation, sharing, and deployment of Linux or Windows Server images for utilisation with Amazon EC2 and on-premises. Amazon Web Services (AWS) introduces the accessibility of EC2 Image Builder, a service which makes it simple and swift to design and maintain secure images. Image Builder crucially minimises the effort of retaining images up-to-date and safe by offering an easy graphical interface, built-in automation, and AWS-provided security settings. With Image Builder, there are no manual steps for updating an image nor do you have to build your own automation pipeline. Now, users can either manually update and snapshot VMs or have teams that create automation scripts to keep images. Image Builder is available at no cost, except the cost of the AWS resources used to create, store, and share the images. This EC2 Image Builder feature is obtainable in each AWS regions. To read further about this, refer the EC2 Image Builder

Data Protection Expanded By Amazon Elasticsearch With Automated Hourly Snapshots Without Any Additional Price

Amazon Elasticsearch Service (Amazon ES) is a organized service which is simple to deploy, operate, and scale Elasticsearch clusters in the AWS Cloud. Amazon Elasticsearch is an open-source search and analytics engine for use cases like log analytics, real-time application monitoring, and clickstream analysis. Snapshots offer an appropriate method to relocate data within Amazon Elasticsearch Service domains and retrieve from failure. This service helps in restoring from snapshots captured on both Amazon ES domains and self-managed Elasticsearch clusters. Amazon Elasticsearch Service has expanded its snapshot frequency from daily to hourly, offering extra granular recovery points. If you want to restore your cluster, then you have various, latest snapshots to pick from. These automated snapshots are maintained for 14 days without any additional prices. Hourly snapshots are automatically activated for domains executing Elasticsearch versions 5.3 and above — no act is necessary on your part. To read further about how to access automated snapshots and execute restore operation, refer documentation. Now this Hourly snapshots feature is accessible in 21 regions globally. To get the full list of AWS Region where Amazon Elasticsearch is available, refer AWS Region Table.

Amazon Aurora Serverless Provides Sharing and Cross-Region Copying of Snapshots

Amazon Aurora (Aurora) is an entirely organized relational database engine that's compatible with MySQL and PostgreSQL. MySQL and PostgreSQL unites the speed and reliability of high-end commercial databases with the lucidity and cost-efficiency of open-source databases. The code, tools, and applications you utilize with your current MySQL and PostgreSQL databases can be used with Aurora. Now sharing snapshots of Aurora Serverless DB clusters with other AWS accounts or publicly is possible. Besides, AWS providing the potential to replicate Aurora Serverless DB cluster snapshots over AWS regions. Authorized AWS accounts can restore a DB cluster straight from the shared DB cluster snapshot without replicating it. DB cluster snapshots could be divided for a diversity of scenarios, for example, when you use disparate AWS accounts for detachment of development and production environments, share data with partners, or associate publicly on research projects. Cloning DB cluster snapshots to other AWS region enables you to retain a replica of your data for disaster recovery or for database migration. To know how to share or copy your DB cluster snapshots, visit AWS management console or use AWS SDK or CLI. And to get more information about Amazon Aurora, refer documentation
