Amazon Elastic Container Service for Kubernetes has updated the EKS optimized Amazon Machine Image and Amazon CloudFormation template for provisioning worker nodes. You can now easily provision the worker nodes on EKS cluster. Earlier, the EKS optimized AMI and CloudFormation template use to provision worker nodes for the EKS cluster that was tightly coupled. The Elastic Container Service for Kubernetes Amazon Machine Image use to take User data from the CloudFormation template to boot and check the EKS cluster. This way it was difficult to use any other method than the CloudFormation to launch worker nodes for the EKS Cluster. Now the latest update removes the dependency on the CloudFormation template and can use other tools such as Terraform or AWS Command Line Interface.
