Amazon Web Services OpsWorks for Chef Automate has now added
support for the version of 1.8.3 Chef Automate. Earlier Chef Compliance scans
could only be operated on nodes with the chef agent installed. You can now
operate Chef Compliance scans on nodes that are not managed by the Chef
Automate by providing you the ability to scan the entire system. AWS OpsWorks
for Chef Automate automatically updates the Chef Automate 1.8.3 version but the
Chef Client updates are done with your consent. The latest stable Chef Client
version 12.8.0 includes new client features, functionality, security updates
and full use of the Chef Automate. By April 2018 the Chef Client 12 will be no
longer supported.
