Amazon Relational Database Service Replicas for MariaDB and MySQL now support Multi-AZ deployments. The Read Replicas with the Multi-AZ allows the users to generate resilient disaster recovery strategy and simplifying the database engine upgrade process. Amazon Relational Database Service Read Replicas allows you to build one or more read-only copies of the database instance within the Amazon Web Service Region or in a different AWS region. Asynchronously the updates done for the source database are copied to the Read Replicas. Read Replicas can be updated to become a standalone database instance when it is needed to provide scalability for read-heavy workloads.
