AWS introduced Amazon Elastic Cloud Compute M5d Instances

Amazon Elastic Cloud Compute M5d instances provide M5 instances that are backed by NVMe-based SSD block level instance storage that is physically connected to the host server. M5d instances are preferred for workloads that need a balance of memory and compute resources along with low latency local block storage including media processing and data logging, and high speed. M5d is a benefit factor for applications including those that require temporary storage of data from caches, temporary files, and scratch space. The M5 customer can now have additional storage choices for general purpose workloads because of the NVMe based SSD instance storage.
