Amazon Elastic Cloud Compute Bare metal instance is now generally available

Amazon Elastic Cloud Compute bare metal instances offer direct access to your applications to the memory resources and processor of the underlying server. The base metal instance is preferred for workloads that need access to the hardware such as Intel VT- x or for an application that operates in a non-virtualized environment for support or licensing requirements. These instances are built on a nitro system which is a group of AWS built hardware offload and server protection elements that integrate to provide securely, high-performance networking and storage to Elastic Cloud Compute instances. Bare metal instances allow Elastic Cloud Compute customers to operate those applications that benefit from deep performance analysis tools, workloads not supported in the virtual environment, licensing restricted Tier 1 business-critical applications and specialized workloads that need direct access to the bare metal infrastructure.
