Amazon Relational Database Service for PostgreSQL adds support for PostgreSQL 10

PostgreSQL major version 10 is now supported in Amazon Relation Database Service. PostgreSQL 10 now consists of many new features that include support for improved parallelism in query execution, column group statistics, native table portioning, Enhance postgres_fdw extension, ICU collation support and much more. TThe he PLV8 extension is also upgraded and will have by default huge Pages. PostgreSQL major version 10 no longer utilizes three-part version numbers and it moving to two-part version numbers. 

This release consists all patches from the PostgreSQL 10.1 minor version. It also has added extension that will support in Amazon Relation Database Service for PostgreSQL 9.6 release and support the major version upgrade from PostgreSQL 9.6 to PostgreSQL 10. The tsearch2 extension is now supported at this time but will be abhorred in the future release so AWS strongly encourages customers to migrate to the similar functionality which now exists in the core database engine. 

You can create an Amazon Relational Database Service for PostgreSQL database instance for using the new version with just a few clicks in the Amazon Web Services Management Console or you can upgrade the existing instance by utilizing the point and click upgrades. An upgrade operation includes a short time of unavailability of the database instance. You can learn more about data instance in the Amazon Relation Database User Guide. Amazon Relation Database Service for PostgreSQL make it convenient to operate, scale and set up the PostgreSQL deployments in the AWS Cloud.
