AWS Config now allows you to define data retention policy for the configuration items

You can now delete the data by defining a retention period for the configurable items with the latest support for specifying data retention policy. The components of the configurable items are metadata, attributes, relationships and current configuration. After specifying a retention period the AWS Config retains the configuration items for a defined period. You can set the period of 30 days to a maximum of 7 years for retaining configurable items. As soon as the configurable items pass the specified retention period AWS Config deletes the configurable items. If you don’t set a retention period then AWS Config automatically set the period for 7 years by default.
