Amazon Aurora is a relational database service which unites the speed and availability of high-end commercial databases with the accessibility and cost-effectiveness of open source databases. The PostgreSQL-compatible edition of Aurora provides up to 3X the throughput of standard PostgreSQL operating on the same hardware, allowing current PostgreSQL applications and tools to execute without needing changes. The fusion of PostgreSQL compatibility with Aurora
enterprise database potentials gives a perfect objective for commercial database relocation. Now Logical Replication is supported by the Amazon Aurora with PostgreSQL compatibility. You can copy data modification from your Aurora PostgreSQL database to other databases with the native PostgreSQL replication slots, or data replication tools like the AWS Database Migration Service (DMS) with logical replication. Logical replication is supported with Aurora PostgreSQL versions 2.2.0 and 2.2.1, compatible with PostgreSQL 10.6. Set-up logical replication slots on your instance and stream modifications from the database through these slots to allow logical replication with Aurora PostgreSQL. This is allowed by setting the parameter rds.logical_replication to 1; through the Amazon RDS Management Console. Besides, this feature allows Aurora PostgreSQL to be utilized as a source for AWS Database Migration Service (DMS). To know further about Logical Replication with Aurora PostgreSQL, refer Aurora
documentation.
