The
AWS Database Migration Service (DMS) will support Memory-Optimized R4 instances
for migrations and all ongoing replications. The new R4 instances come with
more memory per vCPU which can be utilized to migrate or replicate all
workloads which are memory bound, typically the ones with high Transactions per
Second which have to be migrated in near real time. This launch will see DMS
support 3 instance types namely Burstable T2 type instances, Compute-Optimized
C4 instances and Memory-Optimized R4 instances. It is essential to perform a thorough and
detailed research to choose the right instance type while migrating with DMS.
