Amazon Aurora is now compatible with the MySQL 5.7 version

The MySQL 5.7 is now compatible with Amazon Aurora which is generally available now. It delivers improvements such generated columns, JSON support, and spatial indexes and is up to 5x faster than MySQL 5.7. Amazon Aurora’s native implementation of spatial indexing also provides >20x better write performance and >10x better read performance than the MySQL 5.7 for the Spatial Datasets. Amazon Aurora is an RDS engine that incorporates the reliability and speed of the high-end commercial databases with cost-effectiveness and simplicity of the open source databases. It provides the 3 times throughput of the standard MySQL and up to 3 times throughput of the standard PostgreSQL.
