Amazon Aurora’s native implementation of spatial indexing also provides >20x better write performance and >10x better read performance than the MySQL 5.7 for the Spatial Datasets. Amazon Aurora is an RDS engine that incorporates the reliability and speed of the high-end commercial databases with cost-effectiveness and simplicity of the open source databases. It provides the 3 times throughput of the standard MySQL and up to 3 times throughput of the standard PostgreSQL.
